I got to go back home to Jersey City, NJ for a few days and saw some pretty cool new and old street art. This huge 147 foot Shepard Fairey mural is up a few blocks from my old high school and right underneath a very old KAWS tag. It would have been cool to have something like that to walk by coming home from school, I did get to see the KAWS one in high school thou! Apparently there will be a graffiti museum across the street from this location. There may even be a ghost balloon lurking around...

I GREW UP WITH THEM, THEY'RE LIKE ANOTHER FAMILY TO ME, I THINK IT'S SAFE TO SAY THEY HAVE BEEN LIKE THAT FOR MANY OTHERS TOO. THIS WAS SUCH A GREAT OPPORTUNITY FOR ME TO GET INVOLVED IN AND I LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING THE OTHER SUBMISSIONS. MY SUBMISSION WAS A PLAY ON BACK TO THE FUTURE 2, ANOTHER AMAZING 90's PIECE OF POP CULTURE. BARTY McFLY FLOATING THROUGH TIME ON HIS HOMER BOARD, ANTI GRAVITY DONUTS ATTACHED AND HOMER OF COUSRE TRYING TO GET A PIECE OF ONE. I've always been a fan of KAWS, especially since he grew up in the same city that I did. So when I was approached to do a KAWS style fireplace mural I was super pumped. I worked on this piece for roughly 65 hours over 8 days. This was my first mural of this size, pretty much my first mural at all. I HAVE BEEN WORKING ON THIS SPONGE BOB PIECE I CALL "JELLY FISHING" FOR ROUGHLY FIVE MONTHS NOW. I HAVE NOT BEEN STEADILY WORKING ON IT, BUT I HAVE BEEN WORKING VERY HARD ON IT SO IT CAN BE AUCTIONED OFF AT THIS YEARS RACE TO ERASE MS BENEFIT BEING HELD APRIL 24, 2014. I HAVE BEEN LUCKY ENOUGH TO ATTEND THE MS BENEFIT FOR SOME TIME NOW AND BELIEVE IT TO BE A GREAT CAUSE AND CHARITY. I ACTUALLY LOST AN AUNT TO MS SO THIS CAUSE IS VERY CLOSE TO MY HEART AND I AM THRILLED TO BE ABLE TO HAVE MY PIECE HELP IN THE FIGHT TO FIND A CURE. Karl is an amazing photographer amongst many other things, but he looks just as amazing in front of the camera. In this image you see my extremophiles staring on in awe at Karl as if the whole world stopped in his presence. I am not sure who the photographer was, it could have been Karl himself but if not, thanks for the great image for me to remix. On a side note, i think i may have scanned it wrong...
